I suggest that you give these new open source graphic softwares a good look before spending hundreds on Photoshop or gap ,break photo software. In terms of value for money; like Irfan View, they are incomparable. Amonst the paid for photo editing programs, Photoshop Elements is going to be a more than adequate for anyone that you need to do for the web unless you are going down the road of becoming work graphic designers. For these individuals and for professional photographers the photo programs of choice will almost de facto be Photoshop Cs for Pc based workers and gap ,break if you are on the Mac platform.

Corrupted Photo salvage

You have over 300 pictures in your digital camera and no way to retrieve them. Don't panic there are ways to save them. Start by reading this record on corrupted photo recovery.

A while back I inserted my Xd media card into the wrong camera. For some conjecture my two Fuji cameras are not combatable. I went to download the pictures and all I could get was "media card not valid" My heart sunk because we had over 300 wedding photos on it.

I played colse to with it for a while with no results. After finding colse to the Internet I found some decent finding free software. I downloaded it and ran it with my corrupted photo card. I then tried to download the pictures again and got "Media is not formatted would you like to format now? I said yes. I know now that was a big mistake. My wife was going to kill me.

Corrupted Photo salvage

I did some more investigate on the Internet and came over another piece of software for corrupt photo recovery. I downloaded it and ran it with my memory card and it found All my pictures. Don't know how but it worked even after I formatted my card. I was so happy. I gladly paid the fee for the license and restored my wedding pictures.

I did learn a few things about restoring corrupted photos.

1. Whether your pictures are on a memory card or hard drive do not mess colse to with it any more than you have to. Every time you write to a disk or card the less of a occasion you have of recovering your pictures.

2. For memory cards try cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser. Then clean with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. This saved one of my old cards that had corroded contacts and would not read.

3. Find a good program for photo restoration. Some will do more harm than good so do your research.

I did my investigate and the software I ended up using was recommended on a lot of digital photo forums. I even called a local professional photographer and he suggested the same software. Well that was enough for me. One of the best parts about it was it is a free download and you can see if it will work before you buy. Wholly safe for your hard drive or memory card.

So in short if you damaged you photos some how don't panic 99 percent of the time they are recoverable. Corrupted photo recovery software works great!

Printing on Matte or slick Digital Photo Printing Paper

When printing digital photos you have a choice in the middle of matte and glossy photo prints. Glossy photo prints have a shiny discontinue while matte ones have a more subtle neutral one. So which one should you choose? There is no right reply - there are pros and cons to both.

Matte and slick are two different finishes to the photo paper digital photos are printed on. Using different chemicals and processes photo paper can have a slick or a matte finish. slick discontinue looks shiny, reflects light very well and looks vibrant and color rich. Matte discontinue on the other hand does not reflect much light and looks "darker" and duller.

There are pros and cons to selecting either matter or glossy digital photo prints. Here are some of them:

Printing on Matte or slick Digital Photo Printing Paper

g>Glossy photo prints:> Glossy photo prints are shiny and are more challenging to the eye. They look fancy and transport a high capability feeling. Glossy photo prints have vibrant colors. Colors also look rich and deep on glossy photo prints. On the downside glossy photo prints "shiny" attribute can be a problem when photos are viewed using intense light sources such as daylight sun or strong light bulbs. Light reflected from the photo print can blind the viewer production it hard to see the photo. slick paper is also more likely to attract dust and fingerprints and is thus more likely to get dirty over time. Black and white glossy photo prints do not look as good as matte ones.

Matte finish:g> Matte photo prints do not reflect light and are thus easier to view at almost any light condition. Matte photo prints are also less likely to attract dust and fingerprints and are less likely to get dirty over time. Black and white matte photo prints look great than black and white glossy photo prints. On the downside matte photo prints do not have the fancy high capability look that glossy photo prints have. Colors in matte photo prints are less vibrant and less rich than on glossy photo prints.

So which one to select - matte or glossy? It in fact depends on your needs and what you are going to do with the photo prints. As a general rule use glossy photo prints for color prints and matte photo prints for black and white ones. If the photo prints are going to be touched by many habitancy and used a lot matte is a great choice unless you do not mind spending time cleaning your glossy photo prints every now and then. Also if you plan to print large photos (for example to hang on the wall or frame and put on your desk) matte is a great choice since a large slick print would act as a large slick and shiny light reflector.

As with many other choices a matter or slick choice is a matter of personal preference. To make an educated decision you should have experienced both. If you do not have that perceive you can select a few photos some color and some black and white and print them both on matte and on slick paper and in different sizes. Look at the prints and see what you like and what you do not like about them. In the time to come you would be able make great choices by applying that experience.

If you're anyone like me, you've got old photos in boxes, scattered pictures in assorted scrapbooks or albums, a computer hard drive with photos saved in places you don't even remember, maybe even some undeveloped film (who knows what could be on there!). If you're seeing for something to do with all of it, why not make a photo slideshow on Dvd replete with music and specials effects? Know Your Audience

The most foremost aspect in creating any photo montage is in knowing your audience. Ultimately, what you are doing with your montage is telling a story. To tell it effectively, you have to know who you are telling it to. Chronological order allows you to encapsulate all facets of a person's life in a way that everybody will understand. It also creates a great nostalgia result early on which will grab your audience's attentiveness right away.

Music

Generically speaking, songs with lyrics are best. Since the majority of your Dvd will be pictures, having lyrics de facto helps to attach the photos to the music. If a particular lyric matches up to what is going on in a particular photo that is even better.

As to musical genre, that is a matter of personal taste. From experience, though, a mix is usually the most powerful. If you are manufacture an upbeat, light-hearted presentation, then matching music is appropriate. If you are seeing for something consuming and emotional, then think of your presentation like it is a great movie. You want a lighter side, a dramatic part, and a great ending. Depending on the amount of photos you have, probably one or two up-tempo songs, one or two slower songs, and then the homerun song for the end.

When picking exact songs, it is a good idea to think beyond the more base popular songs. What is the person's popular song? How about a song from their childhood? Maybe one version of a song works best than another (like acoustic versus electric)? There is an astounding amount of music ready online; it is a good idea to explore. Narrate It

Another great touch is to use personal voice recordings in your slideshow. If your presentation is a gift, hearing your voice makes it that much more personal (and memorable). Voice recording can be done on most home computers. Turn on the microphone and go for it!

Quotes and Poems

Photo Paper - glossy Versus Matte

How do you shape out which type of photo paper to use when printing your photographs? The differences between slippery and non-glossy, or matte, photo paper may appear to be obvious. But, there are some less obvious differences to consider when choosing your paper. And, there is a less known photo paper selection ready to you which is known as semi-gloss, or satin finish, photographic paper.

Glossy photographic paper is the type we see most often in modern times. Usually, this kind of paper appears to be higher in ability and the photographs are more absorbing to the eye. This is due to several reasons.

First, slippery photographic paper looks shiny. Matte paper does not have a shiny surface. Second, the slippery version has a vibrant color ability whereas on matte paper colors appear dull. Finally, the slippery reflects light well while matte paper doesn't reflect light.

As you can see, it is generally good to use slippery paper for your photos rather than non-glossy paper. However, be aware that there are some problems that may occur when using slippery paper. For example, photos tend to derive dirt and fingerprints more facilely on slippery paper than on matte photo paper.

One other question that arises with slippery photos is that they are difficult to view properly under strong light. In contrast, photos printed on non-glossy paper are easy to see in approximately all light conditions.

One other thing to consider when choosing paper is whether you are printing color or black and white photographs. Often black and white photos will look good on matte photo paper because it captures that old world feel.

As noted above, there is one final photo paper selection known as semi-gloss or satin halt paper. It provides a sort of middle ground between slippery and matte paper. The paper exterior is not as shiny as slippery paper but isn't quite as dull as matte paper. Colors are rich, vibrant, and very absorbing to the viewer. Unlike the slippery type, the semi-gloss paper is easier to see under strong light. It also doesn't picking up as much dirt as the slippery version.
